- Distribution Transformers and Rural Power Grids: This is the most typical application area for de-energized voltage regulation. In rural distribution networks or urban fringe systems, where load fluctuations are relatively smooth, de-energized tap changers are commonly used. The tap range is usually within ±5% of the rated voltage, which is sufficient to meet daily power consumption needs.
- Industrial Dedicated Transformers: In scenarios such as small electric arc furnaces and industrial rectifier transformers, because grid load fluctuations follow certain patterns or the voltage regulation accuracy requirement does not exceed ±5%, de-energized drum-type tap changers are widely adopted due to their simple structure and low cost.
- Step-up and Step-down Power Transformers: This includes generator-transformer units and three-winding power transformers. When the voltage at the end of the transmission line is relatively stable, or when the load on the medium-voltage winding fluctuates significantly, de-energized voltage regulation is mostly employed.
