TBEA Completes Assembly of All Main Transformers for Australia's CWO REZ Project

2026-05-25

TBEA Shenyang Transformer Group Co., Ltd. (TBEA Shenyang) has successfully completed the final assembly of the last 500 kV main transformer for the CWO REZ Project in New South Wales, Australia. This marks the successful assembly of all 13 main transformers for the project.

Project Overview:

Location: New South Wales, Australia

Scope: The first flagship renewable energy zone (REZ) in the state, covering approximately 20,000 km²

Infrastructure: 500 kV and 330 kV transmission lines and energy hubs

Goal: To replace retiring coal-fired power stations and provide clean electricity to millions of homes, driving Australia's energy transition

TBEA's Role:

Manufactured all 13 units of 500 kV main transformers

For the first time in Australia, TBEA will also be responsible for transportation and on-site installation coordination

The medium-voltage side of these transformers reaches 330 kV, breaking through the conventional 220 kV configuration, significantly increasing technical difficulty

Technical Innovations:
To meet the project's requirements for high overload capacity and strict temperature rise control, the technical team implemented targeted innovations in:

Precise control of overload temperature rise

Optimization of core insulation structure

Development of a dedicated high-overload insulation system

These innovations ensure the transformers' insulation reliability and product stability under 150% short-term overload operation.

Significance:
This achievement represents a major milestone for TBEA in the Australian market, demonstrating the company's capability in high-end transformer manufacturing and its expansion from product export to full-service delivery including overseas transportation and installation coordination.
